Halloween Magic and Extended T-Shirt Season on the Cote d'Azur

As the autumn sun warms up the Cote d'Azur, extending the t-shirt season, join me on an October journey through Halloween-inspired enchantments.

Saint Paul de Vence

Saint-Paul-de-Vence is a medieval gem with cobblestone paths and blooming bougainvillea. It is a lovely village to visit any time of the year; however, the decorations in October, combined with the village's charming setting and exquisite views, make it extraordinary. We took a tour inside the village to discover all of the enchanting decorations and a tour of the path around the village to fully enjoy the views. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from and many delicious snacks, including the must-try roasted chestnuts during the  Fête des Vendanges et des Châtaignes.

Nice

Nice is amazing in the autumn and winter, perfect temperature and not too crowded. October and November have perfect temperatures and it’s less crowded. We came to Nice last weekend, the day after a big storm, and there were big waves on the beach which really impressed the kids. Another favorite place in is Castle Hill. Take the stairs or the elevator up to watch the waterfall, enjoy the views and let the kids play in the park. There is a big playpark by the Promenade du Paillon that is very popular. The last few Nice outings have always had a Glacier Rossetti stop! They have an impressive number of ice-cream flavors, and watermelon is a new favorite for all of us. Not sure if they have pumpkin flavor or not!

The Dark Cave - Grotte de Baume Obscure

The Cave and the Souterroscope, nestled atop the hill behind Grasse. It is a scenic drive to get there. The Baume Obscure consists of nine surveyed caves, making an extensive underground network spanning 1,200 meters in length and plunging 80 meters deep. A section of this network, roughly 500 meters long, has been fitted with staircases and footbridges, providing visitors with an opportunity to marvel at stunning mineral formations, underground rivers, and other captivating natural wonders.

The cave is managed by the regional nature parks Alpes French Riviera Saint Vallier de Thiey, and they offer the option of a treasure hunt underground and one above ground, both of which we enjoyed! The above ground Halloween special edition had everyone keeping an extra eye out for witches. The underground visit had a Halloween-themed sound effects, which were quite spooky for the little ones. We will definitely be back for the Grotte de Baume Obscure Halloween addition!
